"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can
change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
These famous words by Margaret Mead have inspired us to create an
organization that promotes women in the field of equine hoof care,as well as
enabling horse owners, and professionals alike, the opportunity to make a
difference. The primary MISSION of H.E.A.R. is to provide support for
continued education, awareness for the general public, and funding for
continuing research initiatives. Our GOAL is to assist notable researchers
around the world to bring a understanding, prevention, and cure for equine
illness and disease. We are a non-for-profit organization run by volunteer
women with high hopes that enough people can bring about a necessary
change for the lives of equines worldwide. January 2011 marks the
organizations beginning, and our first year will focus on funding for laminitis
prevention and treatment. The notable works of the Animal Health Foundation
for the past 25 years has captured our attention and have been chosen to be
the recipients of our first fund raising efforts. AHF is based in the St. Louis,
Missouri area and has recently supplied grants to the following recipients:
- Dr. Phil Johnson, U. of MO
- Kathryn Watts, BS, Rocky Mtn. Research, Center, CO
- Dr, Samantha Brooks, Cornell U
- Dr, Steve Adair, U. of TN

"God found it good to bestow on man a supreme mark of his favor and so he created the horse. The horse
was swifter than everything on the face of the earth; he could outrun the deer, leap higher than the goat, and
endure longer than the wolf. Man, encompassed by the elements which conspired to destroy him, would have
been a slave, had not the horse made him king!"
Charles Chenevix Trench "A History of Horsemanship"
