Natural Hoof Care Practitioner Training Program
New NHCP Training Certification Info, Dates, Locations and Rates!
Our new and dramatically revised natural hoof care training and certification program for the AANHCP starts with a series of
reading assignments prior to attending a 12-day classroom 'training camp' taught by barefoot pioneer, Jaime Jackson. Students
will attend lectures, engage in discussions, take daily tests, trim cadaver hooves as well as live horses, work on body positioning,
efficiency, and learn about safe horse handling at the same time they are being taught to master the natural trim.
Drawing from his 37+ years of hoof care experience and research to teach such fundamental concepts as the 'translation
principles,' students will be taught everything necessary to interpet and apply the natural trim of the wild horse model in the field.
The AANHCP trimming guidelines are based on his wild horse research originally conducted over four years in the 1980s in the
U.S. Great Basin. When adhered to properrly, these guidelines enable practitioners to "mimic" the exemplary hooves of the wild
horse, providing the template and foundation for genuine natural hoof care. In addition, they will prevent invasive trimming
practices as well as those methods that leave excessive growth which can have a deleterious impact on the hoof's integrity. The
natural trim does not yield a 'cookie cutter' approach but instead facilitates the unique individual growth patterns of each horse
without causing harm or obstructing the natural gaits....
